I started photographing sports early on in my days as a photographer. One day I was on my way back from a motocross race and happened to pass by an agility competition at the park down the street from my house. After seeing a couple of dogs run the course I realized I had to photograph these amazing animals and their trainers. These dogs are amazing, they run through and over obstacles with complete grace and without distraction. These dogs never seem to get upset with another dog, or get out of control. The one thing about photographing agility dog competitions is the dog generally hit the same mark every time so you can setup and photograph a particular obstacle and capture a great shot until you get the exact image you’re looking for. They also have 10-15 different obstacles per course, so a variety of images is possible for every dog. I actually had a photo published in Clean Run Magazine, it was a 2 page spread. That is pretty cool for the first time ever shooting something I had never photographed before.
The last image is the one that was published.
